Missouri Students Participate in Youth Swine Judging at Missouri State Fair

On Friday, August 8, over 70 FFA and 4-H members participated in the 2008 Youth Swine Judging Contest at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Winners were announced in both the Junior and Senior Division on an individual basis and as a team. The contest, sponsored by the Missouri Pork Association, consisted of four swine judging classes and one set of ten questions.

Missouri Students Participate in Swine Skillathon

On Thursday, August 7, FFA and 4-H members participated in the 2008 Youth Swine Skillathon at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Participants compete in three age brackets during the contest, which is sponsored by the Missouri Pork Association and the University of Missouri Extension.

Farm Groups Host Informational Program in Clarence

On July 31, Missouri’s commodity groups came together to host a lunch and learn event. The purpose was to educate community and business leaders on the importance of animal agriculture and the pork industry. Approximately 70 people attended the event, held at Chinn Hog Farm in Clarence, MO.
