Carrollton Youth Selected for Scholarship Program
Columbia, Mo.—Carah Hart, a high school senior from Carrollton, has been chosen as a recipient of a $250 Missouri Pork Industry Scholarship from the Missouri Pork Association.
Hart has participated in many organizations that will further her career goals. She currently serves as the Carrollton FFA Historian, and also participated in the Supervised Agriculture Experience program, where she started with two pigs and grew her operation to 80 hogs during her showing career. She has also performed at the Missouri State FFA Convention in April 2008, as well as the National FFA Convention in October 2008.
Carah has won numerous awards in her high school activities. She received the Outstanding FFA Scholarship, Academic All-Conference Tennis, and Academic Achievement Award. She has been involved in varsity tennis, the A+ tutoring program, 4-H, FCA, marching band, pep band, and high school plays and musicals.
Hart was an intern for her local radio station, KMZU, where she shadowed every worker in the station and had an on-air spot. There she also got the opportunity to interview people from Missouri Beef Industry Council, Missouri Pork Association, Missouri Corn Growers, and the Missouri Soybean Association, as well as former Missouri State Director of Agriculture Don Steen.
After graduation, Hart plans to attend the University of Missouri and will be majoring in agricultural journalism. She hopes to continue to promote agriculture through broadcasting.
