The winner of the 2023 ABC17 and Missouri Pork Recipe Contest was Angela Bridgewater from Columbia, Missouri with BBQ Pork with Noodles. It’s a great way to utilize ground pork in a filling dish!



1 lb. of ground pork

1T oil

½ c. Dr. Pepper

1T Seasoning salt

1T Minced onion

½ T Garlic powder

½ – ¾ c. BBQ sauce

Egg noodles

Salt & pepper to taste

Red pepper flakes (optional)


Cook ground pork in oil, medium heat to brown and add seasonings as you cook.

Start water for boiling egg noodles, according to package. I used about half a package.

As pork is cooking, reduce heat to medium-low, crumbling pork as you go. Then add 1/2 cup Dr. Pepper to the pork. Stir it and let it simmer several minutes on low.

Add 1/2 to 3/4 cup BBQ sauce to pork next. Adjust to your preference for BBQ sauce. I used KC style, my favorite. Mix well, continue to simmer as noodles finish cooking.


Drain noodles. Reserve pasta water if needed to make pork more saucy. Or not.

Serve BBQ pork mixture over noodles. I topped mine with diced green onions. A little shredded cheese would be really good, too.
